Born: 1881 Stonehouse.

Married to Jeannie Shearer  18-07-1911 two children Lilly born 23-05-1913 and Euphema born 03-06-1914. Attested: 4/1/1915, Hamilton, Scotland. Embarked 28-7-16 on SS Copenhagen.  Served France Gas Poisoning 23/7/1917GSW to nose 25/8/1918 . Discharged 14/12/1918.He suffered gas poisoning on 23/7/1917 and was treated at 64 Casualty Clearing Station and 54 General Hospital before rejoining his battalion on 2/9/1917. Then on 25/8/1918 he suffered a gun shot wound(GSW) to the nose described as cutting the nostril. He was treated at 3 Canadian CCS and 16 GH before going back to England. He was awarded the Silver War Badge on 14/12/1918 with those two incidents cited. However, at his medical board examination his wound was played down as a mere dimple to the entry/exit wound yet they agreed that his service had impaired his health.  Note: Two war medals were up for auction 26-04-2021 on ebay. the group attempted to buy but were outbid with medals being sold for over  £94
